I had just finished getting ready for work when my doorbell rang. Standing there were two masked women with a beautiful plant and a gift bag. They said, "Hi, Kathy. We wanted to give this to you." Sheepishly, I replied, "I am so sorry, but I don't recognize you with your masks. Can you please take them off?" The responded, "You don't know us. The cards inside will explain." Their eyes smiled at me and they left. I hurried inside to see who these women were and why were they giving me, a stranger, a present. It was then that I read 12 beautiful notes by "12 Ordinary Women". I was moved to tears. It was as if the notes answered the prayer I offered to God the night before. I felt like God was talking directly to me, telling me that things were going to be OK and that I had people, strangers no less, who were praying for me and my sick child. The last 4-5 years have been the most difficult of my life and often a very lonely road. To be embraced in such a way by strangers, with such a deep faith in God, felt like a huge hug from each and every one of those women. I quickly composed myself and ran off to work to tell everyone what an amazing gift of joy and hope was given to me. I will treasure those notes always and have put them in a special box to reread when I am struggling and need some support. The gifts they also gave, all with a garden theme and the amazing gift card to Bachman's, will remind me every time I look at my new plants of the kindness of strangers and the love God has for all of us. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
Kathy
